Essie – Getting Groovy (Winter 2016 collection)

picture of the bottle of essie getting groovyI’m showing the last polish of the Essie mini set. This one is called Getting Groovy. You can check out the other two, Party on a Platform and Satin Sister, here and here. I’ve also already made a nail art with Getting Groovy that you can check out here. I’m quite sad that this is already the last one from the Essie Winter collection that I’m about to show you. I really like the color scheme of this mini set, but I also really like the colors of this collection that are not available in mini size. To me, Essie really hit it out of the park with this complete winter collection!

Getting Groovy is a light golden color with a metallic finish. The color is less yellow than most gold polishes but it is obviously not silver. I think this one is as classy as a gold polish can get! The metallic finish is also a little bit different from what I’m used to. It seems to contain small sparkles, which made the polish extra shiny. I’ve never seen that before in a metallic polish and I really like it.

The application of Getting Groovy was super easy. It almost covered in one coat, but I’m wearing two in these pictures. I usually avoid metallics because I find them too streaky, but that was definitely not the case with Getting Groovy. In the pictures, you can see some brush strokes, but that was definitely not that noticeable in real life.

As I’ve said, I usually avoid metallics, I just don’t like the finish. So if I wouldn’t have gotten the mini set, I would probably not have bought Getting Groovy. However, I’m super happy that I did get it, because otherwise I would have never found out how perfect this polish was! It changed my opinion about metallics completely, and I felt super classy when I was wearing this polish. I definitely recommend this one when you are looking for a nice gold for the holidays!
