Review and swatches of Essie – Satin Sister (Winter 2016)

bottle shot of Essie Satin SisterHello everyone! Today it’s time for the first polish of a Winter collection! Wow, time flies! I’m talking about the Essie Winter 2016 collection. I’ve bought the mini set and it contains Satin Sister, Getting Groovy and Party on a Platform. The first one I am showing is Satin Sister. I have to admit that it is not a color that I felt like I really needed. But boy was I wrong! When I was testing these polishes on a nail wheel, this one just stood out and I couldn’t wait to wear it.

Satin Sister is a dark teal nail polish. I have nothing like it in my stash, all teals that I do own are much lighter, like Essie – Garden Variety. However, I don’t feel that it leans very blue or green, it is just exactly in the middle. What I really like about this polish is the finish. It has a jelly structure and it dries very shiny because of that. The color reminds me of Christmas trees, so it is perfect for this time of year.

At first, I was a little bit afraid that because of the jelly formula, the polish wouldn’t be opaque in two coats. But like I said, this polish is just perfection and it covered easily in two coats and it looks really squishy. Nothing to worry about! I don’t know if Satin Sister stains, because I’m still wearing it.

I really did not expect that this polish would be my favorite of the mini set. If I wouldn’t have gotten the set, I would never have looked at this polish. But I’m so glad I did get it. That’s exactly what I love about mini sets, you get to try polishes that you never would have bought. Now the only downside is.. That I only have a 5 mL bottle! Well, who am I kidding, never going to finish it anyway!
