The most popular nail polish colors of Summer 2022 (according to you!)

I have been playing with the idea to do a ‘best of …’ post for nail polish for a long time now, but all this time I didn’t really know how to do it. I could have just picked my top choices, but that’s already been done so many times here on the internet that it isn’t really unique anymore. One day, I was scrolling through my Pinterest feed, and I realized that I could just use my ‘most pinned’ shades as a way to see which colors were really popular last season. I immediately went through my statistics and became incredibly enthusiastic!

So in this post, you’ll see the five most pinned individual nail polish colors on my Pinterest from 21 June until 21 September. Of course, this system is not completely foul proof, since Pinterest sometimes pushes popular pictures to more people’s feeds and it becomes a snowball effect, but still, it is a very interesting list! I’ve swatched all five shades again, and I will also include a link to the original post! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did, and I hope we will look back on this post in a couple of years and think ‘yes those were definitely the colors of summer 2022’!

5. Essie Flight of fantasy

I was kind of surprised to see Essie’s Flight of fantasy in my top 5 most pinned shades. I remember that I found it an amazing color when I first swatched it at the beginning of spring, but I kind of forgot about it when summer started. Pinterest users clearly did not, and I’m glad they pushed this polish so high because it is absolutely an amazing shade. I would describe Flight of fantasy as a slightly greyed-out light blue with a hint of green. The color covers perfectly in two coats and has a superb formula.

4. OPI Heart and con-soul

Another one I was super surprised about to see in the top 5! OPI Heart and con-soul was released for OPI’s Spring/Summer 2022 ‘Xbox’ collection. It’s a red with a very interesting type of glass fleck shimmer all over it. I absolutely think it is a very nice shade, but the first time I swatched it, it wasn’t one of the standouts for me. I actually really enjoyed wearing the shade again, and I think that I should have given it a bit more love the first time I wore it because it is indeed really pretty!

Although Heart and con-soul is super intense, it also has a bit of a jelly formula, so it took me three coats to reach full opacity.

3. Essie Tropic low

Now, this is a shade I’m not surprised about at all. Essie Tropic low was one of my favorite shades from Essie’s Summer 2022 collection. On Essie’s website, Tropic low is described as a mossy swamp green nail polish, but this really doesn’t do this polish justice! I would personally describe it as a green-gold duochrome shimmer. Sometimes the shade looks super gold, and sometimes it looks very green, but it definitely gives a luxurious effect on the nail. I think this shade is not for everyone, but it is just super unique!

I’m wearing two coats in the picture above, but I later noticed that I should have used three coats instead because the polish is still a tad sheer.

2. Essie Break it sundown

I was happy to see another one of my favorites from Essie’s Summer 2022 collection: Essie Break it sundown. This is another shade I’m not surprised about to see in this lineup. It was super popular on Instagram too, so I’m not surprised that it’s also very popular on Pinterest. I enjoyed wearing this shade again! Break it sundown is a super intense yellow-orange creme and reminds me of mangos! If you want to have a bit of summer on your nails, then this is the right shade!

Although the formula of Break it sundown is super easy to work with, I did need three coats to get rid of all the dark spots.

1. Essie Win me over

>BUY WIN ME OVER OVER HERE ON AMAZON (affiliate link)<

THIS ONE was a very big surprise for me! It was by far my most pinned shade this summer. It was already my most pinned shade of 2021, and it probably will become my most pinned shade of 2022 too! ‘Win me over’ is described as a khaki green creme and was originally released for Essie’s summer 2021, Ferris of them all collection, but was added to Essie’s permanent collection. The shade is lighter than most other Essie greens I own and it felt so good to wear this shade again. I was a bit surprised that it was so popular this summer, but at the same time I understand, because it’s just a nice color!

The formula of Win me over is truly exceptional, it’s almost opaque in one coat but I did two in the picture. So I would definitely recommend this shade to everyone who is looking for a wearable green!

Conclusion

These shades were definitely a nice mix! Definitely a couple of surprises here and there, but it was just so much fun to revisit them! In the end, I hope that you feel the same way! I will try to make a post like this each season and keep it up, even though it is quite some work to swatch all these shades again. I’m curious to find out what we’ll see next!

  1. Hello Anouk!

I only own one of these colors- flight of fantasy. In fact, I bought several from this collection. I like how the pastels are more subdued than they traditionally are for spring.

I skipped the OPI spring collection.

I did buy isle see you later from Essie’s summer collection.

As for Essie’s ferris of them all collection, I got air spun fun because it reminded me of cotton candy, which I enjoyed as a kid (and still occasionally eat as an adult- don’t judge me- lol).

I really need a synonym for the word collection.

Hope you are enjoying the Christmas season!

    Heather

    1. I actually also loved that spring collection in hindsight! I can also understand why people are skipping the OPI Spring collection! I should wear isle see you later and Air spun fun again, both were amazing shades! Isle see you later almost made it to this top list I believe (it was in the top 10).
      Happy holidays!!
